Recently, my closest friend growing up had her first child. She asked for prints of some of my other summer watercolor work for the baby’s room, but I was inspired to create some new images. As I thought of all the ways we played and spent time together, I realized I was making a "day in the life." Summer days when you play every possible game, swim, bike, sit around saying "What do you want to do?" " I don't know what do you want to do?" "Now don't start that again!" (Yes, we had seen The Jungle Book a few times.) The images are represented as different days, since I created them separately as 5"x5" paintings. Combined in Photoshop the image is about 16"x20". I've always loved the work of Norman Rockwell and his genius of story-provoking images. Here are his "Day in the life of a Girl" and "Day in the life of a Boy."
